As Deborah was graduating from the University of Colorado-Boulder with my M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications, newspapers throughout the United States were collapsing. We lost the Rocky Mountain News that year. The job market for a new graduate in this field was very slim. Despite the challenges in the field of Journalism, Deborah had a job within a month of graduating. She worked, using both her Spanish-language skills and her writing skills, as a paraprofessional educator for English Language Learners in the Denver Public Schools. However, she really wanted to work in a field where her writing and editing skills were the primary focus. The print market had not gotten much better, but within a few months, she found herself working as a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) content writer and is now a top-rated writer at The Content Authority and top-rated writer and editor at Zerys. In 2010, she started Elegant Expressions Creative Services.
Her current clients include Best Version Media-Garden of the Gods Friends and Family, Hobby Merchandiser, Compose.ly, and the Longmont Leader. She also volunteers with Seicento Baroque Ensemble as the marketing consultant and the head of the fundraising committee.
